We need your help to meet our goal of $225,000!

Join Us in Strengthening Surgical Care.

Proceeds from the Walk, Run, Pole event will help us complete our updates to Surgical Care including Operating Room equipment at WPSHC, as we prepare for adding a full-time Orthopaedic Surgeon to our staff family!

Thanks to generous donors, we have made tremendous progress in upgrading our surgical suites.

But we still need your help to reach our $1.1 million goal.

With $875,000 raised, we are in the final stretch—just $225,000 away
from ensuring
your surgical team has the tools and equipment they need for your surgical care

By donating, you are directly impacting the quality of care available for your family, friends, and neighbors. Help us complete this vital project and build for the future of surgical care in our community.

Access to high-quality, local, care is absolutely essential to ensuring the general health and well-being of our community.

Your contribution today will:

  • Ensure our surgical teams have the best tools and technology to provide life-saving care.
  • Improve safety and comfort for patients undergoing surgery and medical procedures.
  • Support the expansion of vital surgical programs, including orthopedics.

The History of Our Event

Our event began in 2008.  Starting at the Charles W. Stockey Centre, we offered 2K, 5K and 10K routes along the sparkling waters of Georgian Bay.  Our naming was a natural … Walk, Run, Pole – Do It For Life!

We had no idea how critical this event would be to funding local cardiac care.  Over the years, the money raised helped reopen ICU when the patient-monitoring system crashed in April 2014, bought the first 3 of the Health Centre’s Bi-PAP machines, bought Rehab patients self-monitoring cuffs as well as specific exercise equipment, renewed the Rehab monitoring system, installed the Rehab Unit’s monitor defibrillator, replaced the Cardiovascular Ultrasound system, brought new breathing technology to the Health Centre (heat flow therapy) and replaced nine defibrillators throughout the organization.  It’s truly miraculous what a small group of people dedicated to a cause can do! In 2020 the global pandemic forced the event to be virtual.  In 2021, we created a hybrid event.

Now...

A month long virtual fitness and fundraising challenge, with a special 5k Celebration on June 1st!

The goal is to move and track your distance, time or steps daily while securing pledges along the way.

Every day we move, we get healthier. Every pledge we gather, we can move closer to our goal of raising $75,000 to update the surgical suite!

Join in the challenge throughout the month of May while meeting your fitness and fundraising goals.

Be The Difference

In normal times, and these aren’t normal, government funding to the West Parry Sound Health Centre barely covers 65% of the hospital’s annual operating costs. Foundation donors buy all the major equipment while medical leases, contracts, parking and other services complete the remaining operational funding.
