Formed in 1927, the Auxiliary has been a force in the Parry Sound
community for almost a century.
In the early days, the Auxiliary’s focus was saving money not
making it. Then, our volunteer service crafted many useful things.
Even the hospital’s sheets were made by the volunteers to keep the
hospital from spending treasured equipment money on practical, 'easily'
made items. In this way, the Auxiliary undertook a multitude of
money-saving-tasks to ensure the hospital focussed on items needed for
patient care.
Over the many decades, the Auxiliary has transformed into a
full-fledged wealth creation partner to the Health Centre and
Foundation. The Auxiliary raises thousands of dollars each year and
this money is dedicated to purchasing much needed equipment.
In 2009, Auxiliary members clocked 15,619
volunteer hours as they staffed various activities. Auxiliary
volunteers manage and serve customers at the Hava Java Coffee Shop and
The Whispering Pines Gift Shop. They create quilts for the quilt
raffles and fill various other roles in endless money-making
endeavours. If you are interested in volunteering with the Auxiliary,
please call and leave a message at the gift shop at 705-746-4540 x
3702. You can bet someone will be back in touch shortly. |
